The cultural and historic significance of Kampong Gelam was showcased through 5 different events held throughout the period – KG Precinct Tours, KG SOUQ, KG Home & Lifestyle Bazaar, KG NOSTALGIA and projeKGlamway!
The specially-curated KG Precinct Tours had visitors cruising around in a Vespa sidecar to discover KG’s best-kept secrets, from traditional Teh Tarik, ondeh ondeh cakes to murals on alley walls.
KG SOUQ showcased scintillating acts by emerging performers from the multi-disciplinary Aliwal Arts Centre that supports the artistic development of both contemporary and traditional arts groups in Singapore
Baghdad Street was transformed into a shopper’s paradise with KG Home & Lifestyle Bazaar where unique handicrafts, traditional knick-knacks and curios can be found.
Shopping was also given a nostalgic twist, allowing one to reminisce about the good old days with KG Nostalgia (6 to 7 July) where one could shop for pre-loved clothing items that hark back to old-school styles like bell-bottoms and gingham patterns, along with vintage collectibles and antiques.
